Procurement Specialist  

Halifax, Nova Scotia 

Our client, a contractor for the construction industry is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join their mechanical team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Procurement Specialist will be working on a full-range of commercial projects which would include commercial, government and institutional markets. 

Reporting to the National Procurement Lead and the Atlantic Region VP, the Procurement Specialist will be responsible for carrying-out the entire sourcing process, identifying bidders, administration of bidding process, engaging stakeholders, procurement/contract negotiation, regular progress reports and resolving disputes with suppliers and other external parties. As the ideal candidate, you will conduct, analyse and evaluate proposals by comparing costs, specifications, and delivery terms to propose recommendations to drive total cost of ownership. You will execute day-to-day sourcing requests, implement various sourcing strategies and ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures as well as the agreed to procurement performance measures. The Procurement Specialist will participate in various projects related to process improvements and better customer engagement. 

As the successful candidate you have a minimum of 5 years of technical industry experience related to mechanical procurement (Construction, Facility Management, Oil & Gas and Manufacturing industries) combined with post-secondary education in a mechanical discipline and a certification for supply chain/procurement.  You have strong knowledge of procurement systems, local supply markets, suppliers and regulations. You are a team player with the desire and ability to do whatever it takes to get the job done with a “hands on” approach to tasks. You have the proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment and have the ability to hold yourself and others accountable. You are someone who is highly motivated, results oriented and confident with strong communication, negotiation and customer service skills.
