By combining proven agricultural technologies with their own innovations in farm design, racking, lighting configurations and irrigation mechanics, they are pioneering proprietary, world-leading processes and plant recipes with exciting commercial possibilities in multiple industries. On behalf of TruLeaf, we are seeking a Director of Engineering.

The Director of Engineering can look several years into the future as it relates to the general evolution of technology and how it could impact the various components of the business from a product advantage standpoint. They are up-to-date on current and developing technologies within the vertical farming industry and process the ability to take ideas and bring them to life. 

As the Director of Engineering, you will be reporting to the VP of Science and the CEO. With a multidisciplinary team of engineers and data scientists you will lead the design and development of products, production facilities, farm design and TruLeaf’s Smart Plant Systems. You will provide overall direction, coordination and evaluation of personnel within the engineering team, and provide direction regarding budgets, scheduling and deadline management. You will help to identify, assess and protect the company’s intellectual property. In collaboration with the Director of Horticulture, you will provide leadership to the engineering and R&D team and work closely on joint R&D initiatives.

As the successful candidate, you have experience in a high growth, innovative and entrepreneurial environment with 10 years of engineering experience within the manufacturing industry. You possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, or industrial) with a P. Eng. designation.  You are someone who leads by example and takes responsibility for getting things done on time and within budget and can manage multiple priorities/timelines. You have strong organizational and analytical skills, with a high attention to detail.  You are someone who is innovative, creative and can think outside-the-box.
