Cost Accountant

Truro, Nova Scotia

On behalf of Intertape Polymer Group Inc. (IPG), we are seeking a Cost Accountant. IPG is an acknowledged leader in the packaging industry. Its performance products; including tapes and cloths, are designed for demanding aerospace, automotive and industrial applications and are sold to a broad range of industry/specialty distributors, retail stores and large end-users in diverse industries. IPG’s vision is to become an indispensable supplier to customers, exceeding expectations in quality, delivery and cost through continuous improvement, innovation and customer satisfaction.

The Cost Accountant will be part of the accounting team and support other areas of the business. This is a diverse role that offers the opportunity to learn multiple sides of IPG.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Compiles cost, revenue and capital reports.
  • Works with manufacturing costing models.
  • Reconciles report discrepancies, extracting general ledger and other related databases.
  • Codes data for input to financial processing system according to company procedures.
  • Involved in Inventory control processes such as inventory counts and post-count reconciliations.
  • Exposed to Balance Sheets and Sox reporting.
  • Codes data for input to financial processing system according to company procedures.
  • Participate in special projects as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

As the ideal candidate you will possess a degree in Business Administration (or a related field) and are presently pursuing a CPA designation or sufficient course work to enter the CPA PEP. Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment and/ or packaging industry will be an asset. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications, databases and ERP/MRP systems are required, have the ability to multi-task, meet timelines and follow up with internal and external customers. Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively are essential to the success in this role. The successful candidate will be highly motivated with strong analytical skills and have the ability to work independently.
